Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a significant boost to the province’s renewable energy efforts with an additional Rs6 billion allocated for solar energy projects. This initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader commitment to sustainable development and green energy.
The funding will primarily be directed towards converting government buildings to solar power by June 2025, a move that will not only reduce energy costs but also promote eco-friendly alternatives. The expansion also includes the Ujala Program, which aims to increase solar energy use across the province, along with the installation of solar power systems for key government institutions such as the Punjab Assembly.
