Rawalpindi: The Government of Punjab has reserved PKR 6 billion for acquisition of land for Rawalpindi Ring Road project in its budget for the remaining months of the fiscal year 2018-19, reported a news source. The allocated amount is in addition to PKR 120 million which will be spent on the preparation of PC-2 for the project.
The representatives of Asian Infrastructure Development Bank China are currently being briefed by the departments concerned on the ring road project. This road will keep thousands of cars heading to adjoining cities in the north from entering Rawalpindi and Islamabad. To make the project ecofriendly, the Environmental Planning Wing stresses the need for RRR to have greenbelts around the entire route.
The other project for which the government has allocated funds in the budget include the construction of Qadeer Khan Road, Dry Port Road, Sawar Road. For the construction of Leh Expressway and Ammar Chowk, no funds were allocated.
