Rawalpindi: Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar on Saturday revealed that the government had allocated funds worth PKR 50 billion for the Islamabad Ring Road project, a news source reported. He added that work on this project, along with Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) and Leh Expressway, would begin during the current fiscal year.

Sarwar confirmed that a formal approval has been issued for all three projects and foundation stone for these would be laid within the upcoming six months. He added that they have placed a ban on new constructions along the Leh Expressway site and the identification process for land acquisition would complete soon.
The aviation minister said that the world economy has suffered due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he added, that the incumbent government allocated PKR 650 billion in the federal budget 2020-21 for development projects in the country despite all problems.

Sarwar highlighted that the government was successful in approving the Leh Expressway and ring road projects for the people of Rawalpindi within less than 35 months.
