The premier deemed this project vital to save the historical city of Lahore from the environmental damages caused by its unplanned settlements. It is further aimed at reviving the ‘lost glory of Lahore’, which is struggling to cope with serious issues like pollution, water shortages and sewerage disposal.

The PM stated that the Ravi Urban Development Project would help develop the drying river into a perennial freshwater source, with high-quality waterfront urban development. The modern city is also expected to provide all the requisite facilities to its residents — with forest cover encompassing six million trees to be developed in the area as well.
Moreover, Khan said that the project would be the country’s second-largest such initiative, and that it would provide employment to millions of people.
