Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Planning and Development (P&D) department, on the directives of the Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan, has approved PKR 5 billion worth of uplift projects for the seven merged districts and six sub-divisions, news sources reported.

The said uplift project includes the upgradation of streets, solarisation of bazaars, walkway renovation, sewerage projects, food streets, playing and recreational spaces, rescue stations, public toilet building, and slaughterhouse construction. All these projects are aimed at improving the economic activities and boost the local economy of the region. According to the department’s details, CM Mehmood has approved PKR 600 million for 42 uplift projects in North Waziristan, PKR 700 million for 140 projects in South Waziristan, PKR 260 million for Dera Ismail Khan’s Daraznada and Kohibahar sub-divisions, PKR 250 million for Tank district sub-divisions, and PKR 250 million for nine projects in Beltane sub-division. A total of PKR 600 million has been approved for 52 projects in the Bajaur district, PKR 601 million for different uplift projects in the Orakzai district, and PKR 200 million for six bazaars in the Dara Adam Khel sub-division. Similarly, PKR 250 million has been authorised for tribal sub-division Hassan Khel’s upgradation and different development projects.

A sum of PKR 450 million has been granted for the launch of development projects in the bazaars of Khyber district’s Bara, Landi Kotal, and Jamrud tehsils, as well as PKR 650 million for uplift projects in Mohmand district. The provincial administration has directed the Deputy Commissioners (DC) of the respective areas to personally supervise the projects.
