Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Wednesday allocated PKR 49 billion for development schemes in the merged tribal districts, a news source reported. The provincial government aims to bring these districts on par with the developed parts of the country with these projects.

According to details, the KP tribal districts would receive funds under the Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP) 2020-21. The development schemes include 122 ongoing and 139 new projects – focusing on roads and communication services, health, and education.
Sources revealed that the federal and provincial governments would collaborate for speedy implementation of mega projects worth millions under AIP in the ongoing fiscal year. These measures are in line with the 10-year Tribal Decade Strategy (TDS 2020-30), which aims to provide quality and affordable services to the people at their doorsteps.

Additionally, the KP government has allocated more than PKR 7 billion for new schemes and over PKR 41 billion for ongoing projects in the budget 2020-21 for the merged districts.
