Gujrat: The district administration has sought PKR 43 million for the development of the Gujrat master plan from the provincial government, a news source reported. The said authority has proposed the said master plan to resolve the long-standing sewerage and drainage problems of the city.

In a recent meeting, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Khurram Shahzad gave a briefing regarding the plans and performance of the district administration. He stated that the authority had submitted a comprehensive study regarding the city’s master plan – focused on its sewerage system. He added that the study had been conducted through NESPAK.

DC Shahzad further informed that the authority had also requested the Punjab government to include the project’s funding allocation in the Annual Development Budget (ADB) of the coming year. He also revealed that repair and upgradation work was underway at four disposal stations of Gujrat – aimed at making preparations for the coming rainy season. He also mentioned the ongoing beatification projects being carried out by the administration, and provided details on a University of Gujrat (UoG) collaboration to assist with the various proposals in this regard.
