Islamabad: The Federal Government of Pakistan is to immediately release PKR 4.5 billion for the construction of 18,276 affordable housing units, a news source reported. The announcement was made by Finance Minister Asad Umar while he delivered his speech on Finance Supplementary (Amendment) Bill 2018 in the parliament on Tuesday.
These 18,276 houses include the under-construction 8,276 units, work on which was on hold due to lack of funds. On the remaining units, the plan to start construction work hasn’t yet been shared. Umar, however, indicated that the process will start soon. The funds to be released immediately are issued under the first phase.
For the needy, the government has also announced to extend Sehat Sahulat Health program to the residents of Punjab, Fata and Islamabad. Under this program, the government will provide PKR 540,000 per family in the form of Sehat Insaf Card, which can be used for paying doctor’s fees, medical bills and medicines.
