Gujranwala: The Punjab government has released PKR 350.5 million for Phase II of the ‘Naya Pakistan Manzilain Aasan’ programme, a news source reported. Sources state that the provincial government has completed its plan regarding the project’s second phase.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar inaugurated the first road project under this programme in September. Work on rural road projects will start soon after the government and concerned authorities identify high-priority roads that need rehabilitation or expansion.

According to Punjab Development Department Deputy Director Dr Muhammad Ghias, the provincial government has asked for project details from the Highway Department. These concerned departments will share their project details with the respective deputy commissioner of their city.
Some structural changes have also been introduced in the rural road development project where road width has been increased from 10 feet to 12 feet.

Dr Ghias also said that the government will deliver international-standard road projects under this programme. The project will help provide transportation facilities and access to major roads to the residents of the surrounding rural areas.
