Lahore: The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Monday approved an environmental initiative at a cost of PKR 32.4 billion – a news source reported.
PDWP sanctioned the scheme during a special meeting, which was presided over by P&D Board Chairman Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani.
Under the Green Pakistan Programme, the officials concerned will ensure reclamation and development of forest areas in Punjab.

Recently, the government allocated a sum of PKR 32.4 billion for the Punjab Forest Department. Over five million trees will be planted across the province.
The forest officials said that the overall improvement of the forestry sector in the province requires continuous efforts through a number of long-term initiatives.

They also demanded the authorities concerned to commit sufficient funds to increase the existing forest cover of the province.
