Islamabad: The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved PKR 309 billion for the Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project, according to a news report. This meeting at the Economic Coordination Committee was headed by the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
This dam will be a multi-purpose project which will produce 800MW electricity, and store up to 1,594 million cubic meters of water which can be used to supply drinking water to Peshawar and areas of Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
The ECNEC has also approved a Reverse Osmosis Sea Water Plant for Gwadar City. This project’s expected capacity is to be 5 million gallons per day, and will cost the government more than PKR 5 million.
