Islamabad: The federal government will release PKR 3.652 billion for the plantation of 100 million trees, according to a news report. The trees will be planted in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
The plantation drive is already underway, according to an official of the climate change ministry, and a variety of ecological locations are being targeted. The campaign is also aimed at rehabilitation and restocking of historical plantation, restoration, and improvement of scrub forests. It is also working towards the conservation and enhancement of juniper and pine forests.
The climate change ministry stated that PKR 605.172 million had been allocated for the 2017-18 plantation campaign, out of which PKR 242.068 million have already been released.
