Multan: According to instructions from the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, funds worth PKR 210 million have been released to deputy commissioners for flood relief measures, according to a news report. The municipal department will immediately work to remove all blockages impeding the flow of water.
Instructions have also been issued to keep de-watering sets, disposal stations, generators, and other staff and equipment operational. The flood warning centre has also been made functional.
Flood-fighting plans have been prepared for 54 canal districts of Punjab and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been handed over to the field staff. The irrigation department has also completed inspection of flood-prone areas with the help of Pakistan Army. Moreover, flood relief exercises have also been conducted.
