Lahore: The Punjab government has allocated funds PKR 200 million for several uplift schemes in Soan Valley in an attempt to turn it into an eco-friendly tourist attraction, a news source reported. Chief Secretary (CS) Yousaf Naseem Khokhar expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held on Wednesday.

The Urban Unit recently forwarded its draft for the project to the tourism department in order to gain the latter’s approval. The CS has also ordered the Urban Unit to prepare a feasibility report in collaboration with the tourism department for turning Kotli Sattian into a tourist destination.

Khokhar said that the government was committed to development the tourism sector in Pakistan. He added that smaller cities needed to be developed for ensuring sustainable and eco-friendly spread of tourism in the country.
