Islamabad: The Federal Government of Pakistan has reserved funds worth PKR 18.33 billion for the restoration and rehabilitation of important highways and motorways throughout the country, reported a news source. Road networks of strategic importance, spanning 12,131 kilometres, will be restored.
These road networks are spread throughout the country in all provinces as they constantly receive regular and commercial traffic throughout the day and night. The budget reserved for the project this year is 24% higher than the funds allocated last year.
Out of the reserved budget, PKR 5.31 billion will be spent on the road network in Punjab, PKR 4.9 billion in Sindh, PKR 3.26 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PKR 820 million in Gilgit-Baltistan and PKR 394 million in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
