Islamabad: The government on Tuesday allocated PKR 177.5 billion to the water sector and the country’s hydropower projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2020-21, a news source reported. These funds include foreign aid worth PKR 135 billion.

According to details, the government has also allocated PKR 80 billion for the Dasu Hydropower project. Additional allocations include:
- PKR 123 million for Chitral Hydel Power Station Capacity enhancement from 1 MW to 5 MW
- PKR 120 million for Dargai Hydropower Power Station rehabilitation and capacity enhancement from 20 to 22 MW
- PKR 200 million for establishment of Pakistan glacier monitoring network Upper Indus Basin area falling within KPK, Gilgit Baltistan, and AJK
- PKR 988 million for Golan Gol Hydropower project
- PKR 155 million for Kyal Khawar Hydropower project
- PKR 5.024 billion for Mangla Power Station Refurbishment & Upgradation of Generation Unit
- PKR 14.069 billion for Neelum Jhelum Hydropower project
- PKR 5.649 billion for Tarbela 5th extension hydropower project
- PKR 3.265 billion for Tarbela 4th extension hydropower project
- PKR 3.2 billion Wassal Hydropower Project station 2nd rehabilitation
- PKR 101 million for Ghazi Broth hydropower project ( feasibility)
Meanwhile for water sector schemes, the government has proposed
- PKR 91.473 million for Abato, Daisara & Sanzala Dam, Chaman
- PKR 1.443 billion for Balochistan effluent disposal into RBOD-III, Jaffarabad, Nasirabad, Jacobabad, Qamar Shahdadkot
- PKR 248.4 million for construction of small dams in Tehsil Dobandi, Gulistan Killa Abd Toatal
- PKR 500 million for construction of 200 dams in Killa Abdullah, Gulistan & Dobandi Tehsil
- PKR 1.968 billion for construction of Basool Dam Tehsil Omara, District Gwadar
- PKR 150 million for construction of 20 small dams in KP
- PKR 230 million for construction of Bhundaro storage dam, Anjira, Zehri area, District Khuzdar

On the other hand, the Water Resources Division has proposed a number of projects for PSDP 2020-21. These include land acquisition and resettlement of Diamer Bhasha Dam and Mohmand Multipurpose Dam project. The division has also proposed several other water-related projects across the country.
