Islamabad: The Minister for Planning, Development, & Reforms Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has stated that a project for linking Gwadar and the national power grid has been included in the upcoming budget, a news source reported. He informed the senate that the project was worth PKR 17 billion.

Responding to questions during the senate’s ‘Question Hour’, the minister informed that the government has devised a clear policy to uplift the underprivileged areas to bring them at par with the developed ones.
He said that Balochistan will be assigned its due share in the upcoming annual Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). He added that the government will allocate almost PKR 8 billion for the Kacchi Canal project.

Bakhtiar told the senate that the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) received 119 development schemes from the provincial governments from April 2015 to March 2019. He said that CDWP approved 43 projects out of these. Meanwhile, he added, the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved 45 projects backed by the provincial governments.
