Muzaffarabad: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Cabinet Development Committee (CDC) has approved 33 projects worth PKR 16.32 billion road projects, according to a news story published in the leading newspapers on June 12.

A meeting, chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, was held to review the ongoing projects of a 620-kilometre-long road network by Communications and Works (C&W) developed under the ‘Kashmir Development Package’. As per the details, 220-kilometres were approved for the southern district of Bhimber, Mirpur, and Kotli while 400-kilometres were approved for the northern districts of Neelum Valley, Sudhnoti, Haveli, Muzaffarabad, Jhelum Valley, Poonch, and Bagh.

Moreover, the meeting also approved reconditioning/construction of 30-kilometres long roads in constituencies LA-4, and LA-3 of Mirpur district and an 18-kilometre long road from Chattar Klass to Danna in district Muzaffarabad. It was also informed that the stability of land on either side of the roads will be ensured to prevent landslides. The trees will be planted on the sides of the roads as well. PM Ilyas mentioned that weighing scales will be installed on the main highways so that the overloaded vehicles will not damage the roads.
