Wazirabad: The authorities concerned have disbursed the first instalment worth PKR 130 million of a PKR 2 billion grant for the launch of a Municipal Committee Infrastructure Development Programme (MCIDP) in the city, a news source reported.
As per officials, the Punjab government has collaborated with the World Bank (WB) for this initiative. Development work will be carried out over the next four years. Under a cost-sharing agreement, the World Bank will finance 80% of the project, while the provincial government will provide funds for the remaining amount.
In the first phase, water supply, sewerage, roads, streetlights, and sanitation machinery will be upgraded. After receiving the instalment for the second phase, the departments concerned will work to improve hospitals, schools, colleges, and other basis facilities.
In the third phase, Wazirabad’s parks, and outer city’s roads, streetlights, and roads will be repaired.
