Quetta: The Balochistan government has released a sum of PKR 13 billion, in order to complete the ongoing and new development projects that are part of the first quarter of the financial year (FY) 2019-20, a news source reported.

Provincial Finance Minister Zahoor Buledi revealed that the Balochistan government had released the said amount of funds. He added that the provincial government had reserved a total of PKR 108.114 billion for carrying out 2,461 projects during the ongoing financial year.
Buledi stated that they have allocated PKR 64.611 billion for 1,796 new schemes, and PKR 43.502 billion for 665 ongoing ones. All these schemes are part of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2019-20, he added.
The minister said that the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has also cleared 19 uplift schemes that were the focus of Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan. He added that, as per the PSDP documents, the provincial government has prioritised projects pertaining to urban planning & development, local government (LG), commutation, law & order, public health engineering, health, and education.
The Balochistan government has allocated the highest amount of funds for the communications sector. The total allocated finds amount to PKR 24.6 billion. It has also decided to spend PKR 12billion on 574 schemes for the public health engineering department, to ensure clean drinking water for people facing scarcity of this essential resource.
For urban planning & development, the provincial government will spend PKR 3.6 billion on 70 uplift schemes. Furthermore, it will spend
- PKR 2.1 billion on 114 LG development schemes
- PKR 862.15 million for 16 industrial development projects

Buledi highlighted that all provincial departments had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, to promote transparency and merit. He added that they planned to strengthen provincial institutions by making appropriate reforms.
