Islamabad: The federal government has released funds worth PKR 102 billion for initiating mega development projects in the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), a news source reported.

Minister for States and Frontier Regions Shehryar Afridi expressed his views on the matter during a press briefing. He said that the government is committed to developing the newly merged districts.
Moreover, the centre plans to allocate funds worth PKR 22 billion for tribal areas in the upcoming budget for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20 that will reportedly be announced in the second week of June.

As per reports, the Finance Division has proposed funds worth PKR 100 billion for several projects including allocation relief and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (PKR 32 billion); security enhancement for tribal districts (PKR 32 billion); development of tribal districts(PKR 22 billion); PM’s Youth Programme (PKR 10 billion), and PKR 4 billion for Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC).
