Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz on Monday revealed that the government was willing to spend PKR 100 billion annually (for the next 10 years) on development schemes in the newly merged tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to a news source.

The senator shared this information during a press conference, where he congratulated the people of these tribes on completion of one year of democratic process in the region. ‘The purpose of introducing democratic process in the former FATA region is to give equal rights to these people and bring them at par with the rest of the Pakistan,’ said the senator.

He further announced that all basic facilities like education, health and access to clean drinking water will soon be made available to the residents of newly merged tribal areas. Moreover, all the provinces have pledged to give a 3%-share from their resources to assist in the development of these areas, said Faraz.
