Lahore: The government has issued PKR 1 billion for ongoing uplift schemes in the provincial capital, a news source reported.
The projects include the following:
- Upgradation of public schools
- Expansion of entry points to the city on Thokar Niaz Beg
- Facilities in hospitals
- Sewerage and drainage projects
A total of 512 development projects are ongoing in the city at the moment at a cost of PKR 5 trillion. Some quarters have expressed concerns that if some of the near-completion projects are not finished in this fiscal year, the government may have to issue double the funds next year.

The funds released for public schools include the funds for provision of facilities at schools, upgradation of their statuses, and establishment of sports grounds among other things.
Funds have also been provided to sewerage, tubewell installation and drainage projects in the city.
