Lahore: Over 86 % of the piling work for the construction of an underground station for the Orange Line Metro Station near the General Post Office has been completed, according to a new source. It has also been stated that the aim is to complete this construction by the end of next month. This was revealed by Steering Committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, who reviewed the pace and quality of the work on Sunday.
He also stated that the station spanning over 22 kanals of land had been renamed GPO Station, with its old name being Central Station. Piling work for underground construction along GPO, Supreme Court Registry, and Saint Andrew’s Church has also been completed. Construction is soon to begin at Mouj Derya’s tomb for the completion of a 1.7-kilometre track for the train in this area. He also added that 26 stations were being constructed along a 27-kilometre area for this project, which passes through central areas of the city.
