Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to devise budget allocation rules for uplift schemes, a news source reported. As per officials, the high court has halted the release of any funds for development projects until the task is completed.

Justice Abdul Shakoor and Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad stated that regulations for allocation of uplift schemes, umbrella schemes and other similar projects needed to formulated on an urgent basis; so as to protect the rights of all individuals involved in the process. This will help make the process more transparent, as well as facilitate equal distribution of funds.

The decision was issued as a detailed judgment on a jointly filed petition by more than 30 opposition MPAs of the KP Assembly. The coalition includes opposition figures Enayatullah Khan, Akram Khan Durrani and Jamshed Mohmand, among others.
