Lahore: The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) on Tuesday (September 06) approved ‘Prism Town’, a new private housing scheme in Rawalpindi, news sources reported. The said project is located in Mouza Pharwal Dolal, Tehsil Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi.

Senior Minister Punjab Mian Aslam Iqbal, who was chairing the 87th board meeting of the PHATA at the Housing Department in Lahore, approved the proposal. According to the details, the project will feature a 20% quota for the applicants seeking low-cost housing units under Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP).
The meeting also approved the appointment of a focal person in the office of the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) to expedite the construction of low-cost housing projects in the province. On the occasion, the minister said that the completion of low-cost housing projects under the NPHP initiative is on government’s priority list.

The low-cost houses were available via mortgage through banks. The government has temporarily suspended the financing scheme. Reportedly, the scheme will resume after the finance mechanism is restructured.
