Affordable housing is a basic need, and the Government of Pakistan has recently taken initiatives to address it while keeping in mind the housing unit shortfall in the country. The government aims to provide people with an opportunity to own a house with an affordable price tag, and I for one am all for it.
Where on the one hand the government offers low-cost, basic housing units through its Ashiana Housing Scheme projects for the low-income strata, on the other hand it provides federal government employees with an opportunity to own decent accommodation in the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF).
The Ministry of Housing and Works has launched Phase II of membership drive in FGEHF, under which the government will offer membership to federal government employees only. The seniority of the members in Phase II of the drive will be decided by the age of the employees and the membership will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis, according to an FGEHF advert in local newspapers.
If you are a federal government employee and you want become a member of FGEHF, you will need to submit the membership fee one time only. Furthermore, you will be required to pay for your respective plot or apartment per the payment schedule.
Eligibility
All on-duty and retired employees, majorly disabled workers, and widows whose husbands were federal government employees who died during the course of their service, are eligible to apply for membership in FGEHF.
The membership form can be downloaded from the official website of FGEHF according to the newspaper advert, but unfortunately the link to the membership form does not seem to be available on the website at the moment. Rest assured, we will share the link with you as soon as it becomes available.
In my opinion, this is an excellent opportunity for federal government employees to own a good place of their own in FGEHF and all the eligible employees should consider it.

I remained Federal Govt Employee wef 1969 to 31-12-2003 but thereafter declared Provincial employee. As such i was a provincial employee for six month till my retirement on 15th july 2003.Most of the period of my service i was a federal employee.Keeping this scenario in view pl advise me as to wheather i can avail this scheme.
