Peshawar: The Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially commenced the development of the ambitious Peshawar Industrial Park project, as reported on July 19.

As per details, the construction companies involved have been instructed to complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project within a two-year timeframe, as emphasised by the officials. The Industrial Park’s positioning along the 48-kilometer, four-lane expressway between Peshawar and Torkham will facilitate efficient trade routes and contribute to regional economic integration.
The PKR 3 billion mega initiative has gained momentum with SIDB Managing Director, Habibullah Arif, issuing work orders to the chief executives of two leading construction firms, as announced on Thursday. Key officials, including Deputy Managing Director Engineer Zulfikar Ali Sahibzada, Deputy Managing Director (Planning & Development) Noman Fayaz, and Joint Director Safdar Abbas Afridi, highlighted the project’s potential to significantly boost economic activity in Peshawar.

The park is set to create approximately 25,000 jobs for local residents in the Sara Khawra locality of the Zangali area along Kohat Road. It will feature 400 industrial units spread across plots ranging from 11 marla to 4 kanal within the estate. Strategically located near major transport links, including the Indus highways and the Khyber Pass Economic Corridor, the Industrial Park will enhance connectivity with Afghanistan and the seven Central Asian Republics, collectively home to over 130 million people.
