Lahore: To help the city reclaim its status of being the “City of Gardens”, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has decided to plant as many as 10 million trees, reported a news source. The information and detailed plan on the project were shared by PHA Chairman Dr Faisal Zahoor with news media.
Under this project, trees will be planted on all entry and exit points of Lahore, in addition to a plantation drive planned for the Lahore Ring Road. Sharing more details, Zahoor said that 800 parks will be rehabilitated by planting trees, arranging better lighting, and installing swings. He also said that the authority will also focus on making less privileged areas clean and green to provide recreational facilities to the residents.
Under the first phase of the project, 2 million trees will be planted in coordination with the agriculture department.
