Rawalpindi: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has formulated a plan to beautify Murree Road for the country’s 74th Independence Day celebrations — apart from the ongoing plantation drive, according to a news report published today (August 12).

PHA Spokesperson Nadia Tufail revealed that a programme had been prepared for the celebrations on August 14, upon the directives of Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister and PHA Chairman Asif Mehmood. This programme is reported to include entertaining and colourful events that will highlight the historic significance of the Independence Day.

In addition, the authority will also plant 25,000+ saplings of various species on the occasion, as part of the ongoing monsoon plantation campaign launched last week. The authority will be providing the saplings, and invites the local citizens to play their role in watering and nourishing these plants.
