Rawalpindi: As part of its monsoon plantation drive, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has set a target of planting 50,000 saplings in the city by August 14, according to a news source.
PHA Chief Asif Mehmood and Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Chairman Wasiq Qayyum Abbassi planted saplings in Dhoke Syedan Union Council at the drive’s inaugural ceremony. Several students various schools, along with PHA volunteers, also took part in the plantation drive.

The PHA chairman asked the general public to participate in the campaign, and later to look after the saplings as they grow.
This plantation drive is one of the latest steps undertaken for the city’s beautification. Planting new trees in all parts of the city is the authority’s attempt to develop green areas in Rawalpindi. He also said that several teams of volunteers were formed to plant saplings and to spread public awareness.

The PHA Chief announced that the plantation would be completed by August 14.
