Rawalpindi: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has taken possession of 20 acres of land to establish a modernly equipped health club and gymnasium facility for the residents of the city, a news source reported. The groundbreaking of the project is expected to be held within the next 60 days.

The land is located in the adjoining area of Allama Iqbal Park in Shamasabad. Reportedly, the Rawalpindi District Government and the PHA signed the transfer letter on June 1 (yesterday) after which the marked land’s possession was transferred to the authority. Sources claim that the PHA taknig control of land marks an end to the 10-year long dispute on land’s ownership.
PHA Chairman Asif Mehmood confirmed that the authority has taken hold of the land where it plans to establish a modern health facility featuring international standard amenities. He highlighted that the club’s membership will only be available for Rawalpindi’s residents.

As per the publication, the health club will feature various facilities including a cafeteria, dedicated space for restaurants, a swimming pool, sports facilities and a gymnasium. Sources within the PHA state that the facility will be developed on ‘built, operate and transfer’ model. Meanwhile, preparations for project’s ground breaking is in full swing.
