Lahore: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has proposed a 30% increase in the fee charged for organising private functions and other events in public parks, a news source reported. A document detailing this change has been prepared for the PHA board of director’s review and potential approval during the body’s next scheduled meeting.

If the proposal is sanctioned, holding a marriage ceremony or any other event in an A-category park could cost PKR 34,000 (including tax); while the same could amount to PKR 24,720 and PKR 9,000 in category B and C parks, respectively.
The proposal further proposes the following – raised – fees schedule:
- PKR 30,250 for commercial photography
- PKR 25,210 for talk shows
- PKR 60,500 for non-commercial photography
- PKR 36,300 for bridal shows

An official from the PHA has said that these fee increases comprise a departmental necessity, due to the increasing maintenance costs of public parks.
