Rawalpindi: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has approved the Rawalpindi Green City project that is geared towards extending the city’s green spaces, a news source reported. As per the publication, this project is expected to be initiated at the start of next year.

Under this project, the PHA is expected to plant 100,000 trees in 45 days; between February 15 and March 31. Moreover, the trees planted by the PHA will be in addition to the saplings that the forest department is already planning to plant.
These saplings will be planted along all major roads in the city, including Murree Road, Rawal Road, Mall Road, Saidpur Road, Airport Road, City Saddar Road, Pir Wadhai Road, Mareer Chowk, Rashid Minhas Road and many others.

Additionally, the PHA will plant saplings in all college campuses, schools and universities in the city. Sources within the PHA have confirmed that the authority has completed the task of preparing the saplings and will also be responsible for nurturing these plants in the future.
