Islamabad: Aziz ur Rehman, a resident of Jandi Village, submitted a petition to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday for the computerisation of revenue records in rural areas of the federal capital.
Reportedly, the petitioner’s counsel stated in the petition that his client is the owner of agricultural and residential land in the rural areas of the federal capital and has filed applications with the chief commissioner for computerisation of records, but to no avail.
The petition stated that there are 112 mauzas in the rural territory of Islamabad, but the land records of these mauzas could not be completed despite various announcements by the authorities concerned. It also claimed that the revenue record system is outdated and complicated, so many people are unable to understand it – making it difficult for people to deal with patwaris.
Unregistered land called Shamlat (common land) has also increased litigation issues in villages, per a news source.
