The current shop rent ranges from PKR 20,000 to over PKR 100,000 in various parts of the city. This had made it difficult for shopkeepers to keep paying rent during the lockdown imposed due to pandemic.
Following the announcement from the local shop owners, tenants have expressed their appreciation. They have further requested the government to provide concessions in their utility bills. They also asked the government to ease lockdown conditions so that shops and small businesses could start earning a living.
