Peshawar Property Association President Sirajul Haq Yousafzai, speaking at the news conference at Peshawar Press Club, expressed concerns over the imposition of a 5% tax on property. He stated that it is unjust and that the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR’s) policy on annual rent from plots was not applicable.
Moreover, the president commented on the statement of Federal Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail to bring the real estate and car dealers under the tax net. He stated that all the real estate agents are already registered with the FBR and pay annual taxes regularly. The association appealed to the government to revert this decision or they will have to stage a sit-in outside the Parliament House.
