Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government on Tuesday decided to divide Peshawar into six tehsils and declare the provincial capital as a Metropolitan city, news sources reported.

Reportedly, the local government and rural development department announced that decision and said that the Peshawar tehsil will be raised to the status of metropolitan government while the Town-II and Town-IV will be divided into five tehsils.
A committee – spearheaded by City Commissioner Khalid Mehmood – will analyse and supervise the assets and workforce distribution. The committee’s recommendations will be submitted to the secretary of local government. After the approval of the local government, six tehsils will get formal recognition.

Peshawar capital metropolitan
Urban Unions councils
Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Hassan Khel
Town-II Tehsils:
TMA Shah Alam
TMA Mathra
TMA Chamkani

Reportedly, all the Town tehsils are assigned category “C” while the Capital metropolitan will consist of urban councils.
