Peshawar: The Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on Thursday (February 17) was presented with the Gold Standard Service award from Technical Committee for providing environmental-friendly services to the people, according to media reports.

The technical committee included globally renowned experts that assessed the BRT service based on international best practices. As per the details, the award was given to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Higher Education Kamran Khan Bangash at the Chief Minister (CM) House.

Speaking at the occasion, the minister expressed that it was a great honour to achieve the world’s highest-ranking in BRT service. He added that the BRT service received the award for its passenger-oriented services, adopting clean technology for buses, bus routes based on passengers’ needs, utilisation of maximum resources to facilitate the public at large, improving safety, and promoting non-motorised traffic. A member of the technical committee, Dr Walter Hook, disclosed that the Peshawar BRT was consistent in all aspects of international best practices.
