Peshawar: Peshawar Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) has been nominated for the Sustainable Transport Award 2022 to be held in the United States on February 9, according to news published on Thursday (February 3).

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Information Department stated that Peshawar BRT will be awarded the sustainable transport award. It is one of the three cities across the world that was selected for the said award. According to the details, the award ceremony will be held in Washington DC to celebrate cities that are transforming their streets, expanding access and mobility, and prioritising sustainability for their residents.

Reportedly, the award comes from the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) – a leading global organisation that develops and promotes different forms of environmentally sustainable mobility. Every year the organisation chooses cities for awards based on sustainable transportation projects. It is important to note that the Peshawar BRT will provide the best transport facilities to up to 20,000 commuters on a daily basis.
