Islamabad: Peshawar’s mega Bus Rapid Transit project is facing delays in completion, according to a news report. The main problem seems to be the technological advancement of hybrid diesel buses being used.
The CEO of the project and various other dignitaries also resigned during the design phase of the project due to certain circumstances. Because of this, there have been considerable delays in the project. The provincial government has paid USE 25,000 as freight charges so a demo bus could be inaugurated before the elections, but the functioning of the entire project is still far from completion.
Initially, the project was scheduled to be completed by January 2018 at a cost of PKR 55.9 billion. However, with considerable design changes, the cost of the project has inflated to PKR 62 billion.
