Islamabad: The railways administration has planned the launch of a tourist train for Peshawar-Attock in February – a news source reported.
Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Atif Khan discussed this matter during a meeting. They also discussed reforms in the railways and tourism sectors.

The two agreed that the Peshawar basin, which was once home to the ancient Gandhara civilisation, should be developed as a tourist spot. They also discussed the restoration of a track between Peshawar and Takhtbhai.
Sheikh Rasheed said that Pakistan Railways will launch tourist trains in collaboration with the provincial government. He added that the two sides will also take private sector on-board.

The minister said that the railways department has four steam engines, which will be used to run tourist trains. These trains will be launched in February.
