Peshawar: Following in the footsteps of other governments, the district administration will launch a massive anti-encroachment operation, a news source reported. A meeting to this effect was held with Town-I Nazim Zahid Nadeem in the chair.
Officials of the departments concerned attended the meeting and agreed to remove the encroachments with heavy machinery at all costs to ensure smooth flow of traffic and facilitate movement of the masses.
It was stated that those resisting the operation would be booked under relevant laws and heavy fines would be imposed on them.
It is pertinent to mention that several anti-encroachments are already underway in other provinces, including Punjab and Sindh, and in the federal capital where the government claims to have retrieved state land worth billions of rupees.
The orders to launch the anti-encroachment drive and retrieve state land from land-grabbers were issued by the Supreme Court. The high courts concerned then ordered their respective provincial governments to clear major urban centres of encroachments and retrieve stand land from illegal occupants.
