In a separate proceeding, the Supreme Court (SC) ordered that PPEs be manufactured in Pakistan as the country had both the resources and facilities to do so. The court also directed the provincial, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and federal governments to procure and supply PPEs to the paramedics and doctors. The court also noticed that earlier health-care staff had staged a protest in Quetta due to the lack of PPEs for self-protection. Additionally, the apex court ordered the provincial and federal governments to record comprehensive reports on the progress of the SC’s orders regarding the fight against COVID-19.
