Islamabad: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill on Friday stated that a peri-urban housing scheme will be launched in Punjab next month, according to news sources.

SAPM Shahbaz Gill revealed this information while addressing a news conference in Islamabad. He went on to reveal that in the initial phase, the scheme will be executed on the land of 3,000 kanals in twenty-six tehsils of the province. He said that houses provided under this project will be affordable with easy instalment plans and that the price of a single unit will be somewhere around PKR 1.4 million.

After the execution of the first phase, the project will be extended to all tehsils of Punjab. Mr Gill also hinted that work on another housing project in Farash Town of Islamabad will also be launched in the coming month. He said that 4,000 apartments will be developed in this project of Islamabad and each unit will cost around PKR 2.7 million. He also hinted that journalists will be given low-cost apartments.
Shahbaz Gill said that the incumbent government has created a facilitating environment to encourage the uplift of housing sector in Pakistan in addition to introducing mortgage financing facility, enabling people to ‘build and own affordable houses’.
