Islamabad: An audit report tabled before a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday revealed that 96 court cases pertaining to income tax collection had hampered the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s recovery of PKR 87.42 billion from taxpayers, according to news sources. The report further stated that the taxpayers concerned had submitted the income tax claims in the customs, sales and excise tax tribunals — later challenging them in the apex and high courts.
