Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) director general for Customs Audit filed a complaint against the revenue loss of PKR 27.3 billion from 11 pending cases, according to a news report. The FBR has directed the collectors to pursue clarification for the revenue loss instead of directing these cases to the FBR’s adjudication courts.
The FBR has issued two types of instructions to nine customs collectors, which is going to delay legal proceedings against the tax evaders. The first set of instructions can prompt importers who have paid sales tax worth hundreds of billions of rupees on iron/steel scrap. The FBR has directed the collectors to adopt a different course of action from the already-laid down regulations.
