Faisalabad: The Regional Tax Office has imposed penalties worth PKR 213 million on 3,559 companies that didn’t file tax returns during the year 2015-16, according to a news report. This is the first time that notices of penalties have been sent to such a large number of companies. Separate action will be taken against companies that failed to pay the taxes.
A total of 3,559 companies have been penalised and they have been instructed to make the due payments. During the previous fiscal year, all non-filers were sent notices for the filing of their returns. On non-compliance, every company has been penalised PKR 5,000 per month, which amounts to a total of PKR 60,000 for delays during the past 12 months.
