Islamabad: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) On Monday (December 12) mandated private housing societies to obtain No Objection Certificates (NOC) before running any advertisement campaigns on TV Channels, news sources reported.

The decision was taken at the 175th meeting of PEMRA, presided over by its chairman, Muhammad Saleem Baig. The authority decided that disciplinary actions would be taken against housing projects that fail to obtain the NOC before airing advertisements. The authority directed the TV channels to make proper arrangements and ensure the housing schemes have a proper license and all the documentation in order to air TV commercials. According to a statement issued by the association, the authority has taken steps to ensure the safety of public funds and prevent investment fraud.

It is important to note that the Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed all land development and regulation agencies to ensure QR code facilities for each approved housing scheme. The court ordered to prevent advertisements on all social and print media channels of any society working without the NOCs.

LDA has already implemented the mechanism, and the details of all approved housing schemes in its jurisdiction are displayed on its website. Furthermore, citizens can also access ‘Approved Housing Societies’ tab on punjab.gov.pk for more information on authorised residential projects.
All property selling portable should follow and provide information to customers on the website if the relevant housing society has a noc from concerned authority to build trust.
