Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) recently approved the development of several water and sanitation schemes for South Punjab, a news source reported. The projects sanctioned were worth PKR 627.40 million.

The PDWP approved the said schemes in its 22nd meeting of the (financial year) FY2019-20, which was presided over by Planning & Development (P&D) Board Chairman Habibur Rehman Gilani. The schemes approved during the meeting pertained to the installation of water supplies and beautification of the Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan district. Other sanctioned initiatives included:
- Provision of street lights and tiles in Taunsa Tehsil
- Sewerage and water supply projects in Taunsa Tehsil
- Beautification of Taunsa Sharif City
Previously, the PDWP had approved similar projects for DG Khan, Lahore and Faisalabad. Several of these schemes pertained to the construction and rehabilitation of roads, streets, and public parks in DG Khan. Further, the body had approved the establishment of an eastern waste water treatment plant in Faisalabad.

For Lahore, the PDWP had approved a tourism scheme. Further, it had sanctioned various heritage and urban regeneration projects for the Lahore Fort, as well as the provincial capital’s buffer zones.
